metroConnections announces new hires, promotions
(MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.) – February 16, 2016 – metroConnections, Inc. – an award-winning conference, event, production and transportation services firm – has announced a number of new additions, position changes and promotions.
Brianna Allen began her time at metro with an internship and temporary event support position in May 2015. She has recently been hired full-time to continue her support role for the Event Services division. Her supervisor, Andrea Hansen, Director, Event Services, stated, “With our ever-growing event business and Bri’s hard-working spirit, she was chosen to stay on board at metro once her internship was complete.” Prior to working at metro, Allen graduated from North Dakota State University with a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management and a minor in Business Administration. She has previous experience working with Ramada Plaza & Suites in Fargo, ND, and has completed volunteer work in Guatemala.
Lindsey Baker has joined the metro team as a production coordinator with the Production Services team. In her position, Baker will be responsible for supporting producers, program management needs, travel coordination and serving as on-site program support. Before her role at metro, Baker was an operations manager at Schmitty and Sons and also gained work experience at Trend Lab, Raw Deal and the Pardon Fashion Show. Baker earned an A.D. at Century Community College and a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Apparel Design and Development at University of Wisconsin-Stout. Additionally, she spent time volunteering with Animal Ark by preparing “bully breed” puppies for adoption.
Mathew Foster has been hired as a shop production assistant to assist the hands-on team of artists and fellow production assistants in the metroConnections shop. Prior to his start at metro, Foster worked as a fabrication technician at Plantscape and as a set designer, technical director, scenic painter and prop master at a number of theaters. Foster studied theatre at Normandale, MCTC and Century College with a focus on arts and design, ranging from welding to costume design, skills that he will no doubt put to use in his new role with metro.
Sara Czech, former registration lead at metroConnections, is now serving as a technology solutions coordinator. A valuable member of the Registration Team since June 2014, Czech’s new responsibilities will include building and supporting Attend-eSource® technology solutions, such as websites, graphical emails, mobile apps and surveys, as well as performing Attend-eTrack lead retrieval and session scanning. A graduate of St. Cloud State University with a double major in Photojournalism and Spanish, Czech worked in several customer service-related positions in retail and medical industries prior to her time with metro.
Meghan Foulkes has been with the metro team since June 2012, starting as a receptionist, transitioning to a role in sales support, was then promoted to sales coordinator and has accepted the position of event coordinator with the Event Services team. In this position, she will manage and communicate event details with internal team members, clients, venues and vendors; plan event layouts; contribute to the creative development of events; manage crews, venues and vendors on-site during events; and serve as a lead contact for clients at their events.
Samantha Phillippe has recently been promoted to the role of account manager, Attend-eSource® Services. Phillippe’s supervisor, Erin Thompson, Director, Attend-eSource® Services, says, “Sam has been the acting Account Manager throughout 2015 and has more than earned her new title.” In her new position, Phillippe will guide clients through the Attend-eSource® services process, collect website content and branding, perform invoicing and database management, and coordinate conference logistics. Prior to joining metro, Phillippe earned her B.A. in Communication Studies and Sociology from Concordia College.
Andrea Maus has recently accepted a promotion from program manager to senior program manager of Transportation Services. Renee Splittgerber, Director, Transportation Services, says of Maus, “Her ongoing dedication to the company ensuring flawless programs, plus her ability to handle large volumes during our busiest months, earned her this position.” In her role, Maus will continue to plan airport meet-and-greets, shuttle programs, hotel transfers, scheduling and onsite coordination, as well as manage permits, routing and security, insurance and other logistics for clients large and small. Additionally, she will plan activities and events, design programs for out-of-town visitors and provide her local knowledge for companion and group tours.
